Medication
Prescription of medication is recommended with careful consideration of your personal needs.
Surgery
Surgical care may be necessary to provide a diagnosis or to treat a structural abnormality. Among our team of gynaecology consultants are skilful surgeons, whose preference is for minimally invasive techniques wherever possible. The broad range of techniques includes colposcopy, hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. For example, hysteroscopic endometrial ablation is often used instead of hysterectomy.
General Practice
You may choose to visit one of our private GPs to discuss your health concerns, or for a standard well-man or well-woman check. Our GP is here for you as a first point of call, who can refer you to a relevant specialist for further diagnosis or treatment, or she may be your central point of contact who you visit regularly over the years as you keep an eye on your health and resolve minor issues. General Practice at Viveka is for all the family, and includes contraceptive advice, teenage support, and care for babies and children, including developmental assesments and immunisations.
Gynaecology
Many gynaecological conditions can be treated using medical or surgical options. Treatments range from hormone medication or the Mirena IUS to high-tech surgery.
Fertility
Fertility investigations include hormone testing, ultrasound scanning for ovulation and assessment of the uterus and fallopian tubes. These tests are carried out in conjunction with the CDS ultrasound department.
Treatment options range from the use of medication to boost ovulation, to surgical correction of underlying problems (such as adhesions, fibroids or endometriosis). At Viveka any assisted reproduction treatment such as IVF, IUI or ICSI is performed as a satellite arrangement. This means that the consultations, drug stimulation protocol and ultrasound scans are all prepared and carried out at Viveka by Mr. Shawaf. For the actual egg collection and embryo transfer you would attend one of the HFEA licensed centres that we use (see our fertility pages).
Allergy
Viveka offers a wide range of modern allergy and intolerance tests for children and adults. We also use conventional treatment and suggest how to avoid the triggers. Treatments at Viveka include desensitisation, which can only be offered by specialist allergists. We also have a paediatric dietician on the team, who works closely with children and their families.
Integrated care
Many people find that using one or more therapies available at Viveka complements medical or surgical treatment and aids recovery. Combining treatments in this way is integrated care in action.
