Emotions
Children's emotions are powerful and can at times feel overwhelming; what your child feels can influence behaviour, digestion, sleep and general wellbeing. We are here to listen to and support your child.
Our doctors, complementary therapists and emotional specialists are keen to support stability and loving bonds in families. We also help parents and children develop skills to cope when feelings are challenging.
Children experience the world and their relationships emotionally - it takes years to develop reasoning. Children express their emotions vocally, physically and through behaviour, and sleeping or eating patterns may also reflect inner feelings. Occasionally, emotional feelings find expression through physical symptoms, ranging from tummy ache and head pain to lethargy and anger.
Our emotional support 'Emo team' has extensive experience of helping children and families, and of working alongside paediatricians. We span child psychology, family therapy, psychotherapy and hypnotherapy.
Support will be uniquely tailored to you, your child and your family. You may value practical advice about communicating feelings, coping with difficult emotions and reassuring and supporting your child.
Complementary therapies work with the emotional body as well as the physical body (the 'bodymind'); treatments are nurturing and gentle. Cranial osteopathy and homeopathy can be very effective adjuncts to emotional support..
Lifestyle may be an important factor: we offer added support from a nutritionist or life coach.
A variety of parenting courses provide guidance about children's emotions and family dynamics. Babiesknow workshops, for instance, are focussed on families and on enhancing security and happiness.
