Family Constellations

Family Constellations is a powerful tool that reveals the hidden trans-generational forces that influence an individual’s life, e.g. their fears, relationships, life challenges, health and workplace issues. This work is not about healing the past but instead healing the impact of the past on the present - to free you up to live the life you want to live, and engage fully in loving relationships.

In a family constellation we work with the impact of your family on you. The method can be used either in a workshop format or in a one-to-one session.  Unless you wish, there is no need for your other family members to be present.

In a workshop setting Nicola will carefully consider your issue in the light of what you know about your family’s past (no matter how little that is). She will then use the group to set up a living map or constellation of the issue as it connects with your family history, using representatives from the group. Nicola works with the representatives of your family members and as if going back in time, will work to heal the influences of trans-generational events on you and/or your children’s lives. You sit and watch as the constellation starts to reveal the dynamics that have been influencing you. Many people say it is like having the lights turned on - a lot of things become clear, and positive possiblities begin to open up.

Types of constellations:

Preventative:

  • When couples are beginning a relationship/commitment (to address issues left over from prior relationships, to integrate children from prior partners or to acknowledge their different cultural backgrounds).
  • When a couple is planning a family either naturally, with assisted fertility or through adoption.

Restorative:

  • Healing the effects of terminations, miscarriages, the death of a loved one, separations or divorces.
  • Understanding the hidden aspects of physical symptoms e.g. asthma, skin conditions, cancer etc.. (This work is not a replacement but is intended as a support to on-going medical and complementary therapy care).
  • Understanding the hidden aspects of behavioural symptoms e.g. to do with anxiety, fear or eating disorders.
  • Learning how to flourish in life e.g. through close relationships, enjoyment of school, a harmonious family life, finding your life purpose or achieving success in your career.
