Emotions & feelings

We have a reputation for being lovingly supportive as well as bold enough to state the importance of emotions in physical health. We believe that power comes from within, and that nurturing your 'emotional intelligence' is a great way to help you enjoy confidence and loving friendships, and feel fulfilled.

We are here to help if you are in challenging times, perhaps facing loss, depression, stress or anxiety, and with the 'every day' emotions of anger, sadness, fear; and we'd like to help you enjoy increasing amounts of joy, excitement, passion and love.

As we have several practitioners in each speciality, we can match you with someone you'll click with. We also have an enviable 'Emo' team with skills in psychology, psychotherapy and life coaching, who provide focused emotional support for children, adults and families. Our goal is to help you improve your self image, emotional awareness and confidence, and develop your own tools for continuing happiness in your life.

Your doctor will listen to you and assess whether intense or problematic emotions may be linked with a physical issue, e.g. with hormonal flux in women or adolescent girls; with underlying pain in babies; with injury or muscular tension from overwork; with allergy or digestion issues in children, etc. You may also discuss when focused emotional support may be useful.

Medical treatment may be beneficial, for instance in the initial treatment of depression, anxiety or PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). When medication is recommended we encourage combining it with a talking therapy and/or complementary care.

Viveka's 'Emo' (emotional support) team includes a personal and family therapist; a hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner; a psychotherapist; and a life coach. They have many years' experience supporting families around major life transitions: pregnancy & birth; adolescence; menopause; separation; and illness. The team has a reputation for helping people improve relationships at home and at work, and to reduce anxiety or depression. One person in our team could become your refuge.

Complementary therapies are often used to support emotional health. With the choice available at Viveka (including acupuncture, homeopathy, massage and osteopathy) we believe you'll be able to find the person and the therapy that suits you. Working with a complementary and an 'Emo' therapist is the most efficient way to bring about change. Your doctor may act as your guide.

Nutrition can play an important role. For instance, the roller coaster of sugar highs and lows may heighten anxiety, tendency to argue, or energy slumps; or an imbalanced diet may contribute to hormone imbalance. A nutritionist can give you easy to follow practical advice.

Exercise can help to introduce balance and a positive feeling of wellbeing as endorphin hormones are released. You are welcome to consult a life coach or fitness coach.
