Work Life Balance | Family Time | Getting the Balance at Viveka Health Practice London | Viveka

Work, rest and play

The importance of achieving a 'work-life' balance is a buzz word in today's media. Yet many of us struggle to feel we really do have a balance. At Viveka we enjoy helping people assess what's important to them, let go of strains, stresses and 'shoulds', and create a balance that works well.

Having fun and being explorative is a universal drive hard wired in the brain, yet many of us were conditioned in childhood to ignore this need as we watched our parents and their peer groups prioritise work, chores or serious talk.

We are here to help you 're-wire' your brain and re-write the rule book so that rest and fun are as much a part of your life as household chores, work and other commitments. We offer personal and family consultations, and use a step-by-step approach. We know that small changes can have big effects.

Your doctor may be the first  person you visit. He or she will suggest any relevant tests and offer personal advice.

Emotional support may be invaluable if you feel under pressure or you are not enjoying your current work-play balance. Viveka's 'Emo' (emotional support) team has many years' experience working with individuals and families, gently exploring attitudes and facilitating change. We have a high reputation for helping adults and children to shift deeply ingrained patterns and emotional blocks.

In many families discussing, setting and assessing boundaries (e.g. around time at work, babysitting, eating habits or sleep) allows each member to feel heard and sets a path towards balance. You may want assistance with this.  A therapist may work with you alone, or together with your partner and/or your children.

Complementary therapies influence emotional wellbeing and can be very relaxing. Osteopaths, acupuncturists and homeopaths at Viveka are well known for their understanding and support.

Lifestyle measures may make a big difference by creating enjoyment and/or freeing up space for you to do what you love to do, and helping you get good quality rest. Viveka's life coach offers guidance towards balance, and a number of our complementary therapists can help you with relaxation and meditation. Eating well is also important. You may request personal or family-based nutrition advice from one of our nutritionists.

Viveka's groups may help you in any area, from relaxation (e.g. Jeyarani and self hypnosis) to play or setting boundaries around work. For instance, the Babiesknow workshops explore the human urge to play and have helped many parents step out of old family habits and begin to play much, much more. This is a great start for their babies.
