Baby Led Weaning

For many years, common practice has been to mush or liquidise food and give it to a baby. But there is now an alternative way to wean your baby: letting your baby choose how much and what to eat may be better for him. This is Baby Led weaning: minimising the 'mush' and giving your baby portions of individualised food. Ann's Baby Led Weaning Groups are here to help you discover how to do it yourself, with confidence.

Baby Led Weaning has been used for centuries in traditional societies across the world. It has all sorts of benefits for babies, including reducing fussiness, helping them learn to regulate their own appetite, boosting self confidence and ensuring nutritional balance.

It can take a little bit of getting used to as a parent. Ann will discuss the psychology of eating, and address anxieties about quantity, types of food, and the issue of control. She'll also give you guidance about how to establish meal times and predictability around eating, so your baby does not become a grazer, but can enjoy sociable meals with you and your family and friends.

Once you get the hang of it, baby led weaning is EASY, and it's great for your baby!

Discover:

  • Which foods to give your baby, from 6 months onwards
  • How to ensure your baby is getting enough
  • Ways to give your baby choice and nutrition
  • How to time meals - and the difference between snacks and meals

Ann's friendly group will give you the guidance you need to begin baby led weaning, whether you choose to use whole foods alongside purees, if this is what you're used to, or begin with whole foods from the start.
