Dr Andy Raffles
Dr Andy Raffles has a wonderful way with children of all ages, from newborn to adolescents. He has been with Viveka since its inception and leads our Paediatric team. Andy is particularly interested in treating respiratory difficulties and asthma, as well as supporting growing children as they deal with illness or physical difficulties or face emotional and relationship challenges. He frequently meets children and young people with behavioural issues.
Andy is the director of children's services for the East and North Herts NHS Trust, and holds posts as a Fellow of the University of Hertfordshire, and Lecturer in Paediatrics for the University of Cambridge. He loves empowering children and parents to develop and use the skills they need to stay well and enjoy life. Andy also works at The Birth Unit at the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth with babies from birth, and is a co-author of Birth & Beyond and Mother and Baby Health, an A-Z of Pregnancy, Birth & Beyond.
Qualifications:
Medical Quailification - MB BS, Child health Specialist qualification FRCPCH and DCh - with 20 years experience as a consultant, and 25 years as a parent!
Core belief/passion:
Parent/carer empowerment through understanding is the key to good health in children, whether the child has a major or minor illness.
I like:
Viveka - and all the colleagues who work here - because we all share this common goal, and aim to achieve wellbeing through whatever means available to us.
I don't like:
Those who dismiss Viveka as a cranky fad - come and find out what we as individuals have to offer!
