“Numerous hospital treatments hadn’t worked. The consultant paediatrician at the hospital also works at Viveka and she suggested acupuncture. It has helped me to sleep, I feel less stressed and my constipation has eased. I talked to the acupuncturist about things I couldn’t talk to my parents about. She suggested I see a psychotherapist, who helped me understand how I pick up other people’s stress. I learnt how not to think that everyone else’s stress is mine. A a lot of my symptoms have now stopped – I have far less pain.”
Kirsty’s dad says: “The paediatrician made all the referrals. We were relieved when she suggested acupuncture, and it did help. My wife and I met the psychotherapist before Kirsty did. We saw how we both carried deep-seated issues that we didn’t talk about. The psychotherapist allowed us to release past traumas and our emotional health has improved. She also explained that Kirsty’s emotions became feelings of discomfort in her body. Having the combined support of a senior paediatrician, an acupuncturist and a transpersonal psychotherapist has been our saviour.”
