Energy

We help many women find relief from tiredness. With our foundation of medical expertise we will ensure you receive a thorough diagnosis and any medical treatment you need. Our wider team is here to guide and treat you if stress from your daily life, including relationships and emotional strain, is contributing to your fatigue. Helping women feel energised and positive is always rewarding for us - and confirms that combining medical and complementary care works really well.

The first step is to consult a medical doctor. It's important to have a thorough check, including an assessment of anaemia, kidney and liver function and hormones, and tests for infection. Your menstrual cycle may also be significant (e.g. heavy bleeding and pain are often tiring, and fatigue may be related to the menopause or PMS). For some people allergy may be a factor.

Some women who feel fatigued also experience pain or recurrent infections, or physical conditions ranging from headaches to ME and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Your doctor is here to help with an accurate diagnosis, and to exclude an underlying depression.

Medication may be helpful if a specific problem is diagnosed.

Complementary therapy can relieve fatigue. If you would like to try something your doctor can advise you based on your personal situation. The choice at Viveka includes acupuncture, osteopathy, homeopathy and reflexology.

Lifestyle changes can be very powerful. Small steps that often have far reaching rewards include exercise as well as good quality rest, meditation and learning 'coping' skills for challenging times. Your doctor may recommend a life coach, nutritionist, visualisation guide or fitness adviser at Viveka.

Meeting a nutritionist to optimise your eating patterns may be really beneficial. Learning how to reduce the ups and downs of sugar highs and lows, for instance, can help to reduce stress hormones. In combination with lifestyle measures, this can allow your entire body to move out of the demanding state of stress. Continuing positive lifestyle measures can help you feel more energised and also enjoy restful sleep without being tired all the time.

Emotions and low energy can be closely linked. The connection may seem obvious if you are bereaved or have experienced trauma or relationship breakdown; your energy levels may also be low when your emotions remain unexpressed (e.g. sadness or anger); or your emotional needs are not met (e.g. for fun and loving relationships, fulfilment at work, etc.); or your self-esteem is low.

You may benefit from meeting one of the specialists on our 'Emo' team : psychotherapists, counsellors,  hypnotherapists and life coaches who have many decades of experience and excellent results in improving people's energy and optimism.
