Pregnancy Yoga for Active Birth
Janet Balaskas offers a unique style of yoga teaching for pregnant women - extensive experience of practising and teaching yoga infused with the nurturing and empowering philosophy of Active Birth. You will have an opportunity not only to stretch and relax, but also to prepare positively and effectively for labour and birth. Janet is one of London's leading teachers.
Yoga assists towards balance: balanced posture; hormonal balance; balance of body and mind; and a harmonious combination of activity and relaxation. Janet will help you feel in tune with your body, and in touch with your baby, and emotionally prepared for birth and parenthood.
The emphasis in these classes is on deep relaxation and breathing awareness, which provide an invaluable focus for the yoga practise and can then be used during labour and birth.
This is the only pregnancy yoga class you can attend with or without a partner. You need to be comfortable with working on the floor in basic yoga positions. Attending as a couple can be a very bonding experience, preparing you for being together through the journey of birth and parenting. Attending on your own will give you greater confidence for your birth and a profoundly relaxing experience.
Ongoing Weekly Classes
Attendance for a minimum of 4 classes is recommended and throughout pregnancy is ideal. One in 4 classes is taught by Jill Benjoya Miller who is a senior Active Birth teacher and colleague of Janet's, and taught pregnancy yoga classes for the Birth Unit for many years.
Wednesday evenings, 7.15-9.15pm; £22
